Sipadan Island
"I have seen other places like Sipadan, 45 years ago, but now, no more. Now, we have found again an untouched piece
of art.... A jewel."
- Jacques Cousteau
"No other spot on the surface of the planet has more marine life than this island."
- World Wildlife Fund
Sipadan, designated as a World Heritage Site, is an oceanic island. It is rated as
one of the world's top five wall dives. The turquoise water of the shallow turns a deep indigo as the drop-off plunges a sheer
2,000 feet to the bottom of Celebes Sea, a mere 20 feet from the shore.
Schools of Jacks and Barracuda swirl gracefully in unison. Hundreds of Green and Hawksbill
Turtles glide lazily in all directions. White Tip and Hammerhead Sharks, Giant Groupers, Maori Wrasse and a myriad of other
kaleidoscope citizens of the reef awaits the diver and snorkeller alike.
